Chapter 13

The weekend has arrived and Ace has informed me that there’s a fight tonight if I want in. I send him a quick text letting him know I am and asked for the details. Tabitha is gone as usual and I’ve invited the guys over to spend the day. My relationship with this has been strange, with how it started when I first arrived being so rocky but lately it has actually been easy. I feel comfortable and safe around all three, despite Aiden’s demeanor most days. Huntley has stolen a few kisses randomly when no one is looking. Sawyer watches me all the time and his smile is infectious. I know what it’s like to kiss Aiden and Huntley, and it is amazing. I wonder if kissing Sawyer would be the same. My relationship with Aiden is not real, even if at times, it feels like it. My relationship with Huntley, though hidden, feels more real. He’s been clear about his feelings towards me. Aiden acts like he owns me, but his kisses are so soft and sensual you would never guess he had such a tough exterior.

The doorbell rings around noon, and the butler lets them in. When I walk into the foyer, all three guys come up to me to hug me and kiss me on the cheek. I look at the butler, who is watching the four of us very closely. He gives me a dirty look. I get it, it does look bad from his perspective. But he doesn’t have all the information so I ignore it and lead the guys out back to the pool. The butler brings out sweet tea, lemonade and chips for us to snack on. It is still strange having things brought to me. Any outsider would just think that I grew up rich. It is still odd when I just want to get a snack like I am use to doing, but it is not as awkward as when I first arrived. The kitchen staff eventually got used to me just going in and getting my own snacks. They stopped fighting me on it once I kept going back in and insisted I wasn’t helpless. I don’t think Tabitha has a clue though, and it’s probably better that way. The last thing I want to do is get anyone fired for something I insist upon.

Sawyer perches himself behind me on the patio chaise. He makes gentle strokes up and down my back that give me goosebumps. Aiden sits on one side of us and Huntley on the other.

“So, what are your plans tonight?” Aiden asks.

I slowly take a sip of my drink, trying to avoid the question. Of course Aiden immediately picks up on it. He glares at me and narrows his eyes.

“What are you hiding?” he asks.

“Hiding? I’m not hiding anything.”

“Then why aren’t you answering the question?”

“Because, I know how you guys are and I don’t want you guys telling me what I can and cannot do.”

“Lena,” Aiden says in a warning.
